The 4th edition of this annual event brings large, colourful paste-up collages to the streets of Shoreditch and Brick Lane during the weekend of 13th-15th of September, 2024.
LONDON, UK. 28th August, 2024 - The London International Paste-up Festival (LIPF) is returning to East London the weekend of 13th-15th of September.
The London International Paste-up Festival is an annual event that brings large, colourful paste-up collages to the streets of Shoreditch and Brick Lane. It has displayed the work of over 300 artists from around the world on the walls of London’s unofficial arts district.
Paste-up art involves affixing paper to walls or other surfaces using “wheat paste” or wallpaper glue. Different types of paper can be screen-printed, hand-painted, lino-printed, digitally-designed or block-printed at home or in the artist’s studio. So they can then be installed quickly in the streets.
It is an often overlooked niche of the street art world, but it is arguably the most democratic form of art because it can be done by anyone with no need of approval from the establishment. LIPF offers many street artists from around the world the chance to travel to London through their art, by providing them with the opportunity to send their art by post to the festival’s organiser, who will install the pieces during the festival.
In previous editions, it has featured the work of London Police, WRDSMTH, StinkFish, Donk, Mr Edwards, RX Skulls, Apparan, Quint, D7606, C3, Whatifier, Tweet Street Art, Uberfubs, Mowcka, Vision Ox11, Planet Selfie, Savant and many others.
The 2024 edition of the festival is part of the London Mural Festival and meant to be more urban than ever, with more activities happening in the streets of London, including visual projections, street art hunts, street performances, pop-in children activities and much more.
Visitors can drop by the festival’s stall by Seven Stars Yard (Brick Lane) from Friday, September 15th to Sunday, September 17th from 12.00-17.00 to collect maps, or simply scan the festival’s QR code to follow the locations in the festival’s trail. The festival is organised by Art House Project, an art and music collective based in London.
