LONDON, UK. 27th February, 2024 - In a bold move that's set to redefine Soho's nightlife, Alfie, the jazz-loving feline who's become a celebrity in his own right, is launching his own venue, Alfie’s Private Members Jazz Club, this week on Greek St. Known for rubbing paws with stars like Sir Michael Palin, Eddie Izzard and Emma Thompson at The Piano Bar Soho, Alfie's decided it's time for his own spotlight.
With a studio grand piano, a stage ready for the stars, and state-of-the-art sound by Roland, Alfie’s is the new pinnacle of Soho’s night scene. Connected to the artsy Union club, this new spot is set to be the space to discover London’s top jazz talent, from the producers at Soho Live Studios who run a celebrated label and the Soho Jazz Festival.
The grand opening this evening will feature a show-stopping performance by Jazz FM's Vocalist of the Year, Cherise, with a take on the club’s title track "Alfie," in what promises to be a night of unforgettable melodies and tales of the eponymous Jazz Cat himself.
George Hudson, Soho’s impresario and Alfie’s human, says, “Alfie’s not just any cat; he’s embraced the Soho culture and whenever any of our stars pop by to film or record he can’t help but get involved. You can check out some encounters on his Instagram @sohojazzcat, when Stephen Fry was in, he fully understood it was about time he had his own bar! This new club is his legacy, a place where the past and present of jazz collide, and we can't wait to show you what we've got lined up.”
The box office is now open for nightly live music, with an invitation to join the club for those who can't resist the rhythm to come back for more. Membership offers the inside track to the heart of Soho’s music scene at Alfie’s and beyond for just £35/year.
Programme highlights include the weekly Alfie’s Jazz Jam, a showcase of emerging talents and established stars, and The Night Train, a late-night cocktail and music affair every weekend.
The venue itself is a nod to Soho’s swinging sixties, mixes retro fashion with modern art, currently featuring works by David Ferry. It's not just a club; it's a time machine with a martini in hand.
Alfie’s can be found on the first floor at 49 Greek St. to discover a world where jazz is king, and a cat runs the show. Membership and ticket information is available online at http://www.alfiessoho.com, ensuring your entry into Soho’s latest legend.
This isn’t just any jazz club; it’s Alfie’s. Where the music is intimate, the cocktails are chilled, and the nights are unforgettable. Are you ready to join the legend?
