LONDON, UK 3rd May 2023 – In early 2022, an erotic writing competition was held, and Jessica Seaques was pronounced the winner. The prize turned out to be an eccentric job offer and Jess ended up sitting within the mirrored walls of a bizarre office/dungeon, writing sexy stories for the indulgence of a mysterious patron – the man behind the mirror. Fresh out of university, Jess had come to London looking for adventure. She’d certainly found it.
The imaginative working environment provides an aphrodisiac atmosphere for the young writer, giving her erotica a sharp emotional edge. In ‘Mirror Secret Mirror’, Jess chronicles the strange tale of her recent adventures, in scandalously sordid detail. Thus, the book tells the story of how it was written – reflecting on itself like the opposing mirror-walls that surround everything.
‘Mirror Secret Mirror’ has its own unique style. Romance and erotica cliches are simultaneously celebrated, satirised and subverted. It crosses and uncrosses all sorts of lines – the (blurry) one between fantasy and reality most of all. Those chasing page-turning, steamy thrills can romp through the action-packed story at pace (there’s red-hot MF, FF and FFM scenes deliciously described). Whilst those who prefer to look deeper will discover multiple layers, with plenty of intriguing puzzles and mysteries to unpick.
Asked why she wrote ‘Mirror Secret Mirror’, Jess responded: “Well, I never actually intended to write an erotic novel… and was surprised to find out I was doing so. I was even more surprised to find myself cast as the heroine. Ultimately, the book was his idea. He chained me to the desk and made me do it.”
“He says he wants Mirror Secret Mirror to ‘inspire, enrich and darken’ at least a million orgasms across the world… and I’m responsible for delivering that target. I think he sees it as some kind of erotic philanthropy or evangelism – a cause worth crusading for. Although, of course, it’s another one of his traps… for the readers this time.”
