The new album was recorded in a bedroom before being mixed and mastered in a garage converted into a home studio. My Turning Point (MTP) is Aberdare born; Cardiff based independent singer/songwriter Leon Evans. Now 50, he has been a guitarist and singer/songwriter since the age of 15.
‘Home’ is an entirely singular endeavour by Leon to finish something that should have come out in 2009, but instead, walked away from music entirely in 2010 after a trifecta of disaster forced the first turning point in his life – a divorce, the 2008 financial crash resulting in redundancy and personal bankruptcy in the space of 18 months.
As a result, Leon didn’t pick up a musical instrument until 2022 when covid forced an existential crisis to materialise, catalysing the second turning point – to finish what he started over a decade prior.
Symbolically, the debut single from the album ‘One step closer to free’ was released on his 50th birthday.
This album was originally supposed to come out in 2009 off the back of a 5 track EP that was released in 2008 called “Childhood E.P.” under the artist name ‘Leon Live’. The album was intended to be titled “This is who I am, this is who I was”.
