LONDON, UK. February 11th, 2025 - In celebration of the UN’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the SEA LIFE London Aquarium gifted four female students from St Ann's school in London an exclusive VIP tour - making waves for these girls who love science lessons.
The special day began with a VIP tour with puppets and play, allowing students to dive into the world of marine science. From meeting the team and learning about underwater artefacts to exploring the tactile elements of exploration, the students experienced first-hand the wonders of ocean life. As part of Merlin’s Magic Wand’s ongoing mission to create connection, joy and memories for children who need them most, the day was a celebration of the girls’ curiosity, and enthusiasm for our underwater friends.
The tour included an exclusive look into SEA LIFE London Aquarium’s marine habitats, where the girls explored ocean tunnels, the serene nature of ocean waves, and the sensory elements of this wonderful aquarium. Along the way, they encountered starfish, rays, and got a glimpse of the vast underwater world of the sharks and sea turtles.
“This experience is all about sparking curiosity and exploring the sounds, smells, colours, and magic waiting for us under the ocean,” said Catherine Pritchard, General Manager of SEA LIFE London Aquarium. “It was truly heartwarming to watch these young girls immerse themselves in the world of marine life. We hope the day creates memories for them for years to come.”
With a blend of education, fun and adventure, the girls from St Ann’s School not only saw and explored but also experienced the magic of learning in a whole new way. As part of Merlin’s Magic Wand initiative, the event highlighted the importance of inclusivity and equal access to educational opportunities.
“Merlin’s Magic Wand is dedicated to giving children magical experiences that spark joy and imagination,” said Rebecca Hudson-Betts, Project Manager at Merlin’s Magic Wand. “Being able to celebrate Girls in Science Day with this extraordinary experience was a joy, and we are thrilled to inspire the students at St Ann’s school.”
This event was a shining example of how powerful hands-on learning and immersive experiences can be in igniting a passion for science and technology in young minds.
This session marks the launch of a ‘London Under the Sea’ themed playground that Merlin’s Magic Wand and London Merlin Entertainment attractions are opening at St Ann’s school in Hanwell, London, in March.
