LONDON, UK. November 25th, 2024 - Luxury ski travel provider VIP SKI has created the ultimate persona quiz to sort the Instagram posers from the holidaying professionals.
When it comes to hitting the slopes one thing is for certain - it can be a catwalk of all different measures.
In fact, some experts would argue ‘you are what you wear’. As sunshine yellow is set to be this season’s hottest snow colour and 90’s ‘Clueless-style’ houndstooth prints make a resurgence, this winter promises to be a vibrant affair.
But as skiers head off-piste wearing last season’s ski jacket and this year’s top of the range goggles will their skiing style match their know-how? All the gear and no idea? Or a seasoned pro?
Those heading to the slopes this winter are being encouraged to take the VIP SKI quiz and find out their ski slopes fashion personality.
Nicola Hardy, Associate Director of Marketing at VIP SKI, said: “It’s fascinating to see how ski fashion trends change year on year and how the tech continues to evolve to better the ski experience.
“A ski holiday is accessible to all levels and abilities but there is no harm in feeling you look the part. Our quiz is a light-hearted way of reminding people you don’t have to be a pro to sport the best looks. Whether you are a skiing old-timer or new to the sport, if your outfit gives you the confidence to hit the slopes it was worth it.”
Ready for the slopes, and your ski persona established, here are VIP Ski’s top tips for ski-fashion trends for winter 2024/2025 to help style your look.
The 90’s vintage revival
At the forefront of this winter’s biggest fashion trends is the vintage revival. Retro-inspired ski outfits will be littering the slopes with colour and pattern this season. The slopes will see the return of vibrant puffer jackets with oversized collars, flared pants, and 90s-inspired prints such as houndstooth is making a comeback. The nostalgia trend that has swept the Highstreet this summer, is very much here to stay this winter.
Putting the planet first with eco-friendly fabrics
Ski fashion is increasingly pivoting towards eco-conscious designs, using recycled materials and plant-based fabrics. With many skiers now more aware of the environment and their footprint, there has been a surge in demand for sustainable ski wear that looks cutting edge.
Bright and unmissable looks
This season is all about making a statement with bright, single-tone outfits – think electric blues, canary or sunshine yellow and vivid oranges. Monochrome looks not only enhance visibility on the snow, but they are also an unmissable statement on the slopes.
Feeling futuristic
Taking a step back in time isn’t for everyone. For those never going back to the 90’s, futuristic style is the way to go. This season we will see lots of metallic textures paired with tonal reds, particularly in après ski wear.
Technical Accessories with Style:
Accessories like heated gloves, mirrored goggles, and face masks are now as much about fashion as function. Look for high-tech elements integrated seamlessly with bold designs. This year’s goggles are oversized.
Fashion expert and stylist, Oriona Robb, said: “This year we are leaning into the future, with sleek metallics and deep reds, offering a modern edge to classic ski wear. With the resurgence of monochromatic looks, we can be sure to see bold head-to-toe colour schemes that are both striking and sophisticated hitting the slopes in 2024.
“Winter 2024/5 is all about making a statement. In accessories, we see oversized hats, scarves, goggles to add personality to any outfit. And of course, retro-inspired patterns, think bold stripes, vintage-inspired colour blocking, and a nod to the classics.”
