Cornish Lithium Invests in IT Security with Aztek to Protect UK’s Green Future
CORNWALL, UK. October 24th, 2024 - Cornish Lithium, a UK-based mineral exploration company, has partnered with Aztek, a leading Managed Service Provider, to deliver crucial IT infrastructure at its new lithium extraction demonstration plant in Cornwall. This collaboration is a significant milestone in the development of sustainable lithium production, which is vital for the UK's transition to clean energy.

The partnership between Cornish Lithium and Aztek dates back to 2016, when Cornish Lithium first began its operations. Over the years, Aztek has provided the IT foundation for Cornish Lithium’s growth, evolving from a basic setup to a comprehensive infrastructure capable of supporting complex lithium extraction processes. This latest collaboration focuses on the Trelavour Project, located near St Austell, where Cornish Lithium is developing lithium extraction technologies from hard rock.

The demonstration plant, which opened earlier this month, is key to advancing lithium production in the UK, supporting the growing demand for electric vehicle batteries and other clean energy technologies. By investing in this plant, Cornish Lithium aims to establish a secure domestic source of lithium, reducing the UK's reliance on imports and contributing to its low-carbon future.

Aztek’s involvement in the project includes the installation of secure wireless internet, advanced IT systems, dedicated servers, and CCTV, ensuring the demonstration plant runs efficiently and securely. Their Managed IT Support and Cyber Security services offer vital protection in an increasingly digital landscape, where safeguarding operations against cyber threats is crucial to the success of green energy initiatives.

Anthony Hudson, Managing Director of Aztek, commented: "We’re proud to have been part of Cornish Lithium’s journey from the very beginning. Our goal has always been to provide a secure and scalable IT infrastructure that not only supports their immediate needs but also their long-term vision. The work we’ve done at the Trelavour Project is designed to ensure that Cornish Lithium has the robust digital foundation needed to advance their green energy goals."

Jeremy Wrathall, Chairman of Cornish Lithium, added: "Aztek’s expertise in IT infrastructure has been instrumental in helping us reach this critical point. Their support allows us to focus on developing sustainable lithium extraction technologies, confident in the knowledge that our digital infrastructure is in safe hands."

The new plant represents a significant step forward for Cornish Lithium and the UK’s clean energy industry. As the country seeks to reduce carbon emissions and support the transition to electric vehicles, this project is expected to play a key role in the future of sustainable energy production.
